Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a motivated scientist to join the GSC R&D Colorant team in Illinois. The role focuses on colorant dispersions, raw materials, and product development, including formulation, testing, and application of colorant dispersion and/or paint products.

You will communicate results in written reports and adapt messaging for various audiences. Travel about 10% is required; the position offers bonus eligibility and sponsorship is not provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
• +1 year of pigment dispersion or coating formulation/testing.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis.
• Ability to tint colors to customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Support R&D lab projects to evaluate, develop, and validate colorant formulas.
• Batch-making and testing including weighing, mixing, tinting, drawing down.
• Accurate documentation of lab results and technical information.
• Written and verbal presentation of information to diverse audiences.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects for the group.
• Develop knowledge of product lines and colorant systems.
• Other duties as assigned.
