Job summary

Seakeeper, Inc. in Leesport, PA seeks an experienced R&D Machinist to support prototype unit work. You will program, set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, read GD&T drawings, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to push gyro technologies forward.

You will advise on process improvements, maintain quality and safety standards, and contribute to a fast-paced development environment with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 7+ years setting up, programming and running CNC machines with 5-axis milling and multiple turn lathe/mill CNC controls in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with controls, instrumentation and tooling.
• Skilled in basic math, geometry and trigonometry.
• Proficient reading and notation of machine drawings from mechanical engineering staff.
• Ferocious attention to detail and highly organized with minimal errors.
• Quality focus with sound judgment and decision-making skills.
• Flexible and agile to changing circumstances and business demands.
• Team player and highly motivated to make a difference.
• Change maker with a bias for positive action.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Programming mills and lathes by entering instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and switches.
• Verifying settings by measuring positions, first-run parts and samples.
• Maintaining specifications by observing drilling, grooving and turning operations.
• Troubleshooting processes and reprogramming controls as needed.
• Following SOPs and safety parameters.
• Maintaining equipment via preventive maintenance and calling for repairs.
• Collaborating with product engineers to advance Seakeeper technologies.
• Supporting lean manufacturing and process improvements.
