Job summary

Thea Energy in Kearny, NJ seeks a Senior Machinist to program, operate, and maintain our machine shop, bridging rapid prototyping and small-run production. You will work with manual lathes/mills and 3-axis CNC machines, reading complex drawings and programming toolpaths using efficient machining techniques.

You will inspect parts and troubleshoot CNC systems in a fast-paced team environment. Focus on safety and quality, with collaboration across engineering and production to optimize processes

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience operating 3-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a prototyping setting.
• Knowledge of HEM machining and tooling techniques.
• Hands-on experience with manual machines such as lathes and mills.
• Proficiency in CNC machine setup, programming, and operation, with a strong understanding of machining principles.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to identify and resolve machining issues.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and convey technical information.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
• Commitment to safety protocols and practices to ensure a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines (3-axis) and manual equipment to produce high-precision components according to specs.
• Set up CNC work; manage tooling and fixtures for production runs.
• Switch workflows for production to one-off parts.
• Read blueprints and GD&T to understand machining requirements.
• Maintain and troubleshoot CNC equipment; collaborate with vendors as needed.
• Perform quality inspections using precision measurement tools.
• Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a safe workspace.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to optimize processes.
