Job summary

Afton Chemical Corporation in Sauget, IL is seeking an R&D Chemist to perform laboratory tests supporting manufacturing process commercializations and lubricant additive development. You will analyze samples, collect data, and prepare preliminary analyses while collaborating with senior technical staff.

Position requires a BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and laboratory synthesis experience; comfortable with high-pressure lab equipment and a safety-focused, detail-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• Laboratory synthesis experience.
• Experience with experimental design and data interpretation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform industry and other laboratory tests using established procedures.
• Prepare reports, memos, and presentations communicating results.
• Operate specialized test equipment and ensure reproducibility.
• Maintain inventory and keep the lab clean and safe.
• Contribute to ISO/quality/regulatory documentation and activities.
• Assess process improvements for cost, quality and environmental impact.
