Job description

We're a construction-only outsourced accounting and CAS firm based in Phoenix, serving more than 150 general contractors, subcontractors, and specialty trades across 25 states. Our clients run on QuickBooks Online and Intuit Enterprise Suite, and many come to us from QuickBooks Desktop, Sage, or Foundation. They come to us when their books are broken and they need professionals who understand both construction accounting and the practical realities of contractor operations.

The role

You own the onboarding process for new construction clients transitioning to QuickBooks Online or Intuit Enterprise Suite. You inherit messy books, diagnose what's wrong, clean them up, design sustainable processes, and execute the first few closes. Once the implementation is complete, you hand the project off to our maintenance team. Along the way, you'll train, support, and mentor the junior staff on your engagements. This is project accounting, not month-to-month compliance work. You close projects, not just months. Because the role is fully remote, it's built for someone who drives their own work.

What you'll do
  • Take over broken QuickBooks files and perform full accounting cleanup: reconcile accounts, correct chart of accounts structure, fix job costing setup, and resolve WIP and retention issues
  • Lead migrations from QuickBooks Desktop, Sage, Foundation, and other systems into QuickBooks Online and IES, from building the new file through test conversions, validation, client training, and the final conversion at go-live
  • Design and document accounting processes tailored to each contractor's operations: job costing workflows, AIA billing procedures, cash flow reporting, and internal controls
  • Execute the first 2-3 month-end closes for new clients to validate the new system and train their internal teams
  • Train, assist, and mentor junior staff on your engagements, including reviewing and correcting their work
  • Hand each project off to the maintenance team once the implementation is complete, ensuring continuity and transfer of institutional knowledge
  • Document everything: process maps, reconciliation procedures, close checklists, and client-specific quirks
What you bring
  • Professional, hands-on QuickBooks Online experience. You've worked in real client files, not just taken a course.
  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience that includes cleanup, catch-up, and month-end close work
  • Public accounting CAS or audit background where you led engagements, reviewed others' work, and trained or mentored junior staff (team lead, engagement senior, or audit senior)
  • Self-motivation. You manage your own engagements, set your own priorities, and move work forward without waiting to be told.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills. You can look at a broken file, figure out how it got that way, and decide what to fix first.
Strongly preferred
  • QuickBooks Desktop experience, ideally including Desktop to QuickBooks Online or IES conversions
  • Intuit Enterprise Suite experience, including setup or migration work
Nice to have
  • Advanced QBO cleanup skills. You can open a disaster file, diagnose the structural problems, and rebuild it without starting over.
  • Construction accounting experience: job costing, work-in-progress schedules, and retention accounting
  • Experience with Sage 100 Contractor, Sage 300 CRE, or Foundation, especially getting data out of them
  • Process design experience, such as documenting workflows, building internal controls, or automating repetitive tasks
  • CPA license or a degree in Accounting or Finance
Compensation and logistics
  • $85,000 to $100,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • Full-time, fully remote role
  • Benefits include health insurance and PTO
  • You'll work standard business hours with occasional deadline-driven intensity during onboarding sprints
