Job summary

Don Thornton Volkswagen of Tulsa is seeking a Quick Lube Technician with a strong automotive background and ASE certification or technical degree to join our growing team. You will test vehicle systems, drive vehicles for test purposes, diagnose and repair, and perform fluid and tire management with the use of diagnostic tools.

This is a safety‑sensitive role emphasizing accuracy and efficiency in performing preventive maintenance and repairs on vehicles, while maintaining quality service

Qualifications

• Requires strong automotive knowledge with ASE certification or technical degree.
• Candidate should have strong diagnostic abilities and be able to test and diagnose vehicle systems.
• Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• High school diploma or GED is required; ASE certification/technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Test vehicle systems and components to ensure proper operation.
• Drive vehicles for testing purposes and inspect/ refill fluid levels as needed.
• Ensure proper tire pressure and lubricate fittings as required.
• Install oil drain plug and oil filter, communicate oil levels to teammates.
• Diagnose and repair vehicles efficiently and accurately.
• Use power tools and diagnostic equipment to perform tasks.

Job description

We are looking for a Quick Lube Technician to join our growing team! The right candidate will have a strong background in automotive and ASE certification or technical degree. The day-to-day duties of this role include testing check systems to ensure they are working properly, driving vehicles for test purposes, and accurately diagnosing and repairing vehicles.

This position is designated as a “Safety-Sensitive Position” as it relates to Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act (OMMPPA) Unity Bill. In accordance with the OMMPPA, individuals who test positive for marijuana (THC) — regardless of a state-issued medical marijuana license will be disqualified from consideration for this position. You must also have a clean driving record with no speeding tickets over twenty miles per hour.

Responsibilities

• Test to check systems and components are secure and working properly
• Isolate the systems or components that might have caused the problem
• Drive the vehicle for testing purposes and inspect and refill fluid levels as necessary
• Ensure tire pressure for proper inflation, clean and lubricate fittings as needed
• Install a new oil drain plug and new oil filter and communicate oil levels to teammates
• Maintain efficiency and accuracy in diagnosing as well as repairing vehicles
• Repair or replace worn parts ahead of the vehicle’s breakdown or damage
• Use power tools, machine tools, and common hand tools to perform various tasks

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of automobiles and speedy diagnostic abilities
• Effective analytical and communication skills and eagerness to improve
• Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
• Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• ASE Certification/Technical degree (preferred)
• One year in a service department
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
