Job summary

Quantinuum is seeking an AMO Theory Architect in Broomfield, CO to apply their expertise to the development of our next generation large-scale quantum computers. The role focuses on QCCD architecture, error correction, and subsystem requirements to advance qubit count, run-time, and circuit fidelity.

The candidate will collaborate with hardware teams, simulate quantum operations, and communicate design proposals to management. A PhD and 5+ years in related fields are required.

Qualifications

• PhD completed prior to starting.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience (PhD inclusive) involving quantum information, ion trapping, qubits, atomic physics, numerical simulation, spectroscopy, optics, vacuum systems, electronics, cryogenics, lasers, photonics, or laboratory work in the physical sciences.

Responsibilities

• Work with the hardware architecture team to conceptualize large scale quantum computers.
• Analyze the performance of candidate large scale quantum computers.
• Define system level requirements and high-level sub-system and technology requirements.
• Numerically simulated quantum operations such as gates, measurements, readout, and cooling.
• Work with sub-system teams to identify potential technology insertions into the architecture.
• Communicate findings and design proposals to technical, management, and executive teams.
• Develop, implement, and oversee best scientific practices across the architecture team.
