Job summary

Infleqtion is seeking a highly skilled quantum physicist to design and maintain neutral-atom quantum computers. You will lead R&D on laser systems, QPUs, and gate protocols, translating atomic physics models into practical subsystem designs.

The role requires a PhD in AMO/Atomic/Optical physics or 4+ years of relevant experience, strong Python, and collaborative skills in a fast-paced environment. Travel up to 10% may be involved, with competitive benefits and a mandatory IQP incentive plan.

Qualifications

• PhD in AMO/Atomic/Optical physics or related field, or 4+ years of equivalent experience.
• Experience with atomic physics lab tools (lasers, AOMs, RF generators).
• Strong Python coding skills for experiments and data analysis.
• Excellent communication and collaboration, with agile / team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, calibrate and maintain Quantum Computers based on neutral atoms.
• Lead R&D projects for laser systems, quantum processing units, and gate protocols.
• Create and test models of atomic physics behavior to inform system design.
• Develop, test, run and debug software for experiments and system tuning.
• Mentor junior team members and supervise interns.
