Job summary

Infleqtion, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated physicist to design, build, and optimize neutral-atom quantum computing systems. You will run R&D projects on quantum hardware, laser and optical systems, and subsystem integration, translating goals into actionable experimental plans.

The role requires hands-on experience with atomic/optical/quantum experiments, Python tooling for control and data analysis, and the ability to guide junior team members in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in atomic, optical, AMO, quantum physics or related field; or 4+ years of relevant research experience.
• Hands-on experience with atomic/optical/quantum experiments and precision measurement.
• Experience applying quantitative models to experimental design and hardware specs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, calibrate, operate, and improve neutral-atom quantum computing systems.
• Execute R&D projects involving quantum processor hardware and laser systems.
• Translate goals into experimental plans and measurable performance targets.
• Design and analyze experiments and physics-based models to guide decisions.
• Independently execute well-defined technical work from planning to validation.
• Develop Python-based tools for experiment control, data analysis, and automation.
• Own assigned subsystems through testing, maintenance, and documentation.
• Collaborate with physics, software, electrical, mechanical, and systems teams.
• Provide technical guidance to junior team members and interns.
