Job summary
McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP (MBHB) seeks a highly specialized Technical Advisor or Patent Agent with deep domain expertise in Quantum Information Science and Technology (QIST). This role will shape, protect, and prosecute high-value global patent portfolios spanning quantum computing hardware, software, quantum communication, and sensing technologies.
You will draft patent applications, conduct prior art searches, and assist with legal opinions, translating complex physics concepts
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master’s in Physics/Quantum Information/Optics or related field.
- Eligible to take the USPTO Patent Exam and become a registered Patent Agent within one year.
- 0-5 years in high-tech fields related to quantum computing, quantum sensing, or related areas.
- No prior legal experience required but interest in IP and patent law essential.
Responsibilities
- Draft patent applications and prosecute with attorneys.
- Conduct prior art searches and support legal opinions.
- Explain complex technical concepts to attorneys and clients clearly.
