Permanent, Fixed Term Contract

Here at Stonewater, we are seeking a Quantity Surveyor (known internally as Cost Manager) to lead on commercial negotiations of all new and existing Homes contracts, in collaboration with Operational and Procurement Teams. The role involves ensuring effective and commercial cost control, identifying innovative and economical ways of delivering services, preventing waste, and fostering long-term strategic partnerships with the supply chain and key partners.

You will manage cost control across multiple national contracts and projects (circa £30m p/a), influencing and driving commercial efficiency. Responsibilities include monitoring contract/project costs, recommending waste reduction, conducting cost benchmarking, value engineering, and supporting contract negotiations and variations.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be educated to HND level or hold a professional qualification in construction, housing, management, or property.
• Have several years’ experience as a QS or Cost Manager, either client or contractor side.
• Possess a good working knowledge of NHF rates, PAS2035, Retrofit & Best Practice.
• Experience delivering grant-funded programmes, monitoring, and reporting.
• Knowledge of repairs pricing per property, void types, and planned works.
• Proven track record of reducing costs while improving value.
• Experience developing strategic partnerships and working with multi-disciplinary teams across wide areas.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and data analysis using software like Microsoft Excel.
• Strong planning, organizational, networking, and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of building law, contracts, health & safety legislation, and best practices.
