Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) in West Lafayette, IN, is seeking a Quality Technician II to support manufacturing operations, troubleshoot and inspect components, and drive continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain, mentor teammates, read drawings, and contribute to calibration and quality processes; this swing-shift role runs Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or STEM-related certification or equivalent work experience in engineering or science.
• 3+ years of experience working with electronics and/or mechanical assemblies.
• Working knowledge of inspection techniques, measurement systems, and common inspection equipment.
• Ability to monitor, maintain, and support calibration programs for inspection tools and test equipment.
• Strong attention to detail with high standards for inspection accuracy and documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience using common computer applications in a manufacturing or quality environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.

Responsabilités

• Support a team of quality technicians to ensure consistent execution of inspection, testing, and quality processes.
• Communicate quality findings, trends, and results clearly to manufacturing, engineering, leadership, and other stakeholders.
• Research and learn new technical topics to improve troubleshooting effectiveness and team capability.
• Troubleshoot and characterize electrical and mechanical components to identify root causes of quality issues.
• Provide technical quality support to internal and external customers by interpreting and clarifying product, material, and process requirements.
• Conduct material and product testing in alignment with industry standards and internal requirements.
• Support investigations into production issues, including material defects, test failures, assembly issues, and process variation.
• Participate in cross functional teams focused on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
