Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is seeking a Technical Writer to support the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk trainer aircraft program. You will serve as the local SME for technical writing, guide inspectors, and drive best practices while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

The role requires AS degree or equivalent experience in quality or technical writing, plus manufacturing quality exposure and strong written/verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing or related STEM field or 3 years' related manufacturing quality experience.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operations.
• Ability to convey technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly clearly.
• Ability to interpret and revise written documentation/work instructions for consistency and efficiency.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; collaborative problem-solving approach.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and guide inspectors across shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop best practices for technical writing and maintain/upate them.
• Prepare NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, MRB dispositions.
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements (ISO/AS9100, etc.).
• Facilitate controls/solutions to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
• Support Saab values and a people-first culture across the organization.
