Job summary

thyssenkrupp is seeking a Quality Supervisor in Indiana to coach a team on equipment and process quality. You will oversee the Gage Lab, Air Tool Repair, and CMM operations, ensuring calibration and measurement accuracy while meeting budgets and deadlines.

The role covers a split 2nd/3rd shift, with responsibilities spanning hiring, training, audits, and continuous improvement of quality management processes on the factory floor.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in a Quality, industrial, maintenance environment, and leadership.
  • Experience with gage calibration, CMM operation/measurement systems, or air tool maintenance/repair preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
  • Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems applicable to the business.
  • Ability to work a split 2nd/3rd shift schedule.

  • Meet all Quality Control objectives, projects, and deadlines within budget.
  • Supervise daily operations of the Gage Lab, Air Tool Repair, and CMM rooms, ensuring equipment calibration, maintenance, and measurement accuracy meet quality standards.
  • Coordinate, assign, and review work of quality control employees across 2nd and 3rd shift.
  • Teach, coach, and demonstrate work activities for team members.
  • Develop and implement quality control policies and procedures to ensure the highest level of product and process quality.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits of quality-related policies and processes, including gage calibration and CMM measurement systems.
  • Work within the organization to educate employees on the quality management system.
  • Prepare and present reports, as assigned.
  • Hire qualified personnel and ensure they receive all necessary training.
  • Responsible for conducting performance reviews and disciplinary actions of employees.
  • Participate, support, and comply with all health, safety, quality, and Lean initiatives and requirements.
  • Ensure smooth shift-to-shift handoff and continuity of quality operations between 2nd and 3rd shift teams.
  • This is a position that works directly on the warehouse/production floor around heavy machinery.

Job Summary

The Quality Supervisor coaches and guides a team of employees involved in equipment and/or building quality control activities to achieve optimum levels of quality and productivity while meeting operational deadlines and budgets. This role has direct oversight of the Gage Lab, Air Tool Repair, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) rooms, ensuring equipment, calibration, and measurement processes support overall plant quality standards. This position typically works a split shift covering 2nd and 3rd shift, providing consistent quality leadership and coverage across both shifts.

Responsibilities

This role typically includes recruiting and hiring qualified employees and ensuring they receive all necessary training and education. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for maintaining a motivational work environment through appropriate goal setting, operating principles, communication, and fair treatment of all employees. As necessary, the supervisor must take action to correct poor performance and/or poor behavior that puts the employee or team at risk or impacts the team's ability to achieve its objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience in a Quality, industrial, maintenance environment, and leadership
  • Experience with gage calibration, CMM operation/measurement systems, or air tool maintenance/repair preferred

Preferred Requirements:

  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and precision measurement equipment
