Job summary

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) in Tooele, UT is seeking a Quality Leader to manage plant-level quality systems and teams, driving continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. You will lead ISO 9001 compliance, audits, and data-driven improvements across production and supplier performance.

Role requires 5–7 years in manufacturing quality, leadership experience, and strong problem-solving skills. Competitive salary with bonus and robust benefits; onsite work with relocation not offered

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressive manufacturing quality experience.
  • 2 years of Team Lead, Project Leadership or Supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001.
  • Experience in automotive/heavy-duty manufacturing quality.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis methodologies (8D, A3, 5 Whys).
  • Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, SPC, and MSA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements.
  • Supervise and develop quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians.
  • Decision maker for daily production activities guided by policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate resources and set daily priorities to meet business objectives.
  • Manage internal and external audits.
  • Oversee manufacturing quality processes including SPC, inspection strategies, and quality gates.
  • Drive root cause analysis using 8D, A3, and DMAIC methodologies.
  • Reduce COPQ and improve FPY.
  • Interface with customers on quality concerns and corrective actions.
  • Analyze warranty and field failure data to drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement and Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.

Inside the Role

Leads and manages plant-level quality systems, processes, and teams to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements. Drives continuous improvement in product quality, manufacturing processes, supplier performance, and customer satisfaction through data-driven decision-making, root cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. Ensures alignment of quality strategy with operational objectives, including reduction of defects, warranty claims, and cost of poor quality (COPQ).

Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000 - $121,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

  • Develop team capabilities through coaching and performance management, and provide ongoing performance feedback and guidance to direct reports
  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field required
  • 5-7 years of progressive manufacturing quality experience
  • 2 years of Team Lead, Project Leadership or Supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001
  • Experience in manufacturing quality within automotive or heavy-duty industries
  • Knowledge of or ability to apply Lean/Continuous improvement tools and principles
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis methodologies (8D, A3, 5 Whys, etc.)
  • Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, SPC, and MSA
  • Ability to analyze and interpret quality data
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Experience with heavy duty truck and powertrain development and/or manufacturing
  • Strong leadership experience in a shop floor environment
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Experience with Power BI, SPC software, or similar tools
  • Knowledge of warranty systems and field failure analysis
  • Experience with OEM customer requirements and APQP processes
