Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a quality leader to drive plant-level quality systems and continuous improvement. You will mentor quality engineers and technicians, oversee audits, and steer data-driven actions to reduce COPQ and improve FPY.

This onsite role requires strong ISO 9001 knowledge and automotive quality experience. Relocation is not mentioned; typical benefits include annual bonus, 401k match, substantial vacation and family leave, healthcare, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
• 5–7 years in manufacturing quality with automotive/heavy-duty exposure.
• 2 years of Team Lead or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001.
• Experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement tools and principles.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis methodologies (8D, A3, 5 Whys).
• Experience with warranty systems and field failure analysis.

Inside the Role

Leads and manages plant-level quality systems, processes, and teams to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements. Drives continuous improvement in product quality, manufacturing processes, supplier performance, and customer satisfaction through data-driven decision-making, root cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. Ensures alignment of quality strategy with operational objectives, including reduction of defects, warranty claims, and cost of poor quality (COPQ).

Position offers a starting salary range of$95,000 - $121,000 USD

What You Drive at DTNA

• Lead and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements
• Supervise and develop quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians
• Decision maker for daily production activities guided by policies and procedures
• Coordinates resources and set daily priorities to meet business objectives
• Manage internal and external audits
• Oversee manufacturing quality processes including SPC, inspection strategies, and quality gates
• Drive root cause analysis using 8D, A3, and DMAIC methodologies
• Reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and improve First Pass Yield (FPY)
• Interface with customers on quality concerns and corrective actions
• Analyze warranty and field failure data to drive improvements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues
• Drive continuous improvement and Lean/Six Sigma initiatives
• Lead cross-functional teams to resolve complex quality issues
• Allocate resources and set priorities aligned with production goals
• Develop team capabilities through coaching and performance management, and provide ongoing performance feedback and guidance to direct reports
• Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement

Knowledge You Should Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field required
• 5-7 years of progressive manufacturing quality experience
• 2 years of Team Lead, Project Leadership or Supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001
• Experience in manufacturing quality within automotive or heavy-duty industries
• Knowledge of or ability to apply Lean/Continuous improvement tools and principles
• Proficiency in root cause analysis methodologies (8D, A3, 5 Whys, etc.)
• Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, SPC, and MSA
• Ability to analyze and interpret quality dataExcellent communication and customer-facing skills

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

• Experience with heavy duty truck and powertrain development and/or manufacturing
• Strong leadership experience in a shop floor environment
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• Experience with Power BI, SPC software, or similar tools
• Knowledge of warranty systems and field failure analysis
• Experience with OEM customer requirements and APQP processes
