Quality Manager –South Hadley, MA
We’re looking for an experienced Quality Manager to join an established manufacturing business in South Hadley, MA. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll take ownership of quality systems, AS9100 compliance, corrective actions, data analysis, and continuous improvement within a modern manufacturing environment. The company specializes in manufacturing custom wire and cable products, ranging from single‑conductor hook‑up wire to complex multi‑conductor composite cables. These products are supplied into demanding and highly regulated industries, making quality, consistency, and product conformity critical.
Responsibllites of the Quality Manager
- Lead and maintain the company’s AS9100 Quality Management System, including supporting its implementation and transition.
- Own key quality metrics including first-pass yield, scrap, rework, defects, nonconformances, customer returns, and corrective actions.
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, Pareto, and process mapping.
- Develop quality dashboards, reports, trends, and management-review data using Microsoft Excel.
- Manage internal nonconformances and customer/supplier corrective actions.
- Support supplier quality, incoming inspection, material nonconformances, and supplier performance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop quality inspectors, technicians, and other quality personnel.
- Develop quality procedures, inspection requirements, training, documentation, and nonconforming-product controls.
- Work closely with production and engineering to identify problems and implement long-term corrective and preventative solutions.
- Present quality performance, trends, risks, and improvement opportunities to senior management.
- Help drive a culture focused on prevention, accountability, continuous improvement, and right-first-time manufacturing.
Requiremnts for the Quality Manager
- 5+ years of progressive quality experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with AS9100 or another robust quality management system.
- Strong understanding of corrective action, root-cause analysis, auditing, and nonconformance management.
- Strong Excel and data-analysis skills, including PivotTables, formulas, charts, data cleanup, and reporting.
- Experience creating quality dashboards, Pareto charts, trend analysis, and management reports.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work with both shop-floor employees and senior leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Experience for the Quality Manager
- Experience implementing or transitioning to AS9100.
- Background in aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, electronics, wire/cable, or other highly regulated manufacturing.
- Experience managing formal corrective-action systems.
- Supplier quality experience.
