Job description

Quality Manager - Join Us on the Journey to Transform Our Nation’s Energy

Renewable Acres, Inc. (RAI) is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the implementation and ongoing management of our company-wide Quality Management Program across our growing portfolio of renewable-energy projects. This is an opportunity for an experienced construction quality professional to take ownership of RAI's quality function and help establish a consistent, prevention-focused quality culture across the organization.

Who We Are:

Renewable Acres is committed to integrating utility scale solar power & battery energy storage into our national infrastructure, driving sustainable, long-lasting energy solutions for communities across the country. Based in Portland, Oregon, we work collaboratively with our sister development company (GreenKey Solar) to drive change developing utility-scale renewable energy projects in key growth markets. We are a fast-paced team of doers, taking ownership of our work and proactively solving problems to achieve ambitious goals.

Who You Are:

You are not waiting for someone else to act—you take responsibility and initiative to get things done. You have a passion for tackling complex challenges, and see them through until they are done and done well. You thrive in an environment where creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity is paramount. You believe in learning continuously, growing with every experience, and driving solutions, not just identifying problems.

Your Mission

As Quality Manager, you will serve as RAI's primary internal quality leader and provide quality leadership and oversight across construction, commissioning, project turnover, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M).

This is a hands-on leadership position. The Manager will work closely with executive leadership, Project Managers, Construction Managers, Superintendents, Engineering, Procurement, O&M personnel, subcontractors, testing agencies, commissioning providers, and third-party consultants.

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing and implementing quality systems and spending time in the field verifying that those systems are effectively implemented.

What We Value:

  • Accountability & Ownership: We take responsibility for our work and see it through, owning our successes and failures alike.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: We solve problems, not just identify them. We approach challenges with creativity and analytical rigor.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: We value collaboration. We work seamlessly with development, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to drive projects forward.
  • Initiative & Self-Starter: We don’t wait for things to happen; we make them happen. We take proactive steps and push for progress.
  • Integrity & Transparency: We operate with honesty and clarity, making decisions based on what's right for the team and the project.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead company-wide implementation and administration of RAI's Quality Management Program.
  • Develop and oversee project-specific Quality Plans.
  • Establish consistent quality requirements across RAI projects.
  • Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, owner requirements, manufacturer requirements, approved submittals, and applicable standards to establish project quality requirements.
  • Identify applicable Divisions of Work and Definable Features of Work (DFOWs) and establish associated inspection, testing, documentation, and acceptance requirements.
  • Implement and administer RAI's Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-Up inspection process.
  • Develop and maintain standard inspection checklists and workmanship standards.
  • Establish and administer Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Oversee quality requirements for civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical construction.
  • Establish quality requirements for solar PV and BESS installations.
  • Oversee material and equipment receiving, inspection, storage, traceability, and nonconformance controls.
  • Coordinate third-party inspections, testing agencies, commissioning providers, manufacturers, and specialized technical resources.
  • Administer RAI's Nonconformance Report (NCR) and corrective-action processes.
  • Monitor punch-list activities and quality closeout requirements.
  • Conduct project quality audits and field surveillance.
  • Establish and monitor subcontractor quality requirements and performance.
  • Develop quality training and provide coaching to Project Managers, Construction Managers, Superintendents, and applicable field personnel.
  • Establish quality KPIs and provide periodic performance reporting to executive leadership.
  • Identify recurring quality issues, conduct or facilitate root-cause analysis, and implement lessons learned across projects.
  • Establish quality documentation and turnover requirements.
  • Support quality requirements for RAI's O&M activities, including preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, equipment replacements, and warranty-related issues.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a quality professional who understands that quality is built into the work—not inspected into it after the fact.

The successful candidate will have the leadership and technical experience necessary to establish clear quality expectations, work collaboratively with field teams, identify problems early, and drive corrective action when work does not meet established requirements.

This individual should be capable of moving between program-level quality management and detailed field execution, including reviewing drawings and specifications, observing installation practices, evaluating inspection and testing results, managing NCRs, and coaching project teams.

Qualifications

Candidates should have:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressively responsible construction quality experience, preferably in renewable energy, electrical construction, power generation, utility construction, industrial facilities, or heavy civil construction.
  • Experience implementing and administering Quality Management Systems and project-specific QA/QC programs.
  • Experience managing quality across multiple concurrent construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction inspection and testing.
  • Experience with NCRs, corrective actions, root-cause analysis, and quality audits.
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, technical requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience managing subcontractor quality performance.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to active construction projects and operating facilities.
  • A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline is preferred. Significant directly applicable construction and quality experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Certifications & Experience

One or more recognized quality credentials is strongly preferred, including:

  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management System training
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • Root Cause Analysis training
  • Electrical inspection and testing experience
  • Solar PV and BESS construction experience
  • Commissioning and project turnover experience
  • Manufacturer-specific installation or inspection training

Professional certifications are preferred but may be supplemented by substantial directly applicable construction and renewable-energy quality experience.

Why Join Us?
