Responsibilities

The role is responsible for ensuring all solar construction projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design specifications, codes, and quality standards. The position oversees field construction teams, subcontractors, and QA/QC processes to deliver high-performing PV systems on schedule and within budget.

Construction Oversight
  • Manage all phases of solar project construction from mobilization to commissioning
  • Supervise site supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure schedule and safety compliance
  • Review construction drawings, RFIs, and change orders for technical accuracy
  • Lead progress meetings and provide schedule updates
Quality Management
  • Develop and implement QA/QC inspection plans, commissioning checklists, and documentation standards
  • Conduct field inspections for workmanship, electrical terminations, grounding, labeling, and installation compliance
  • Manage non-conformance reports and corrective actions
  • Track recurring quality issues and provide feedback for continuous improvement
  • Validate installations meet code and manufacturer standards before energization
Technical & Compliance
  • Perform root cause analysis for electrical faults or performance issues
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with engineering and internal teams to resolve field challenges
  • Support commissioning, punch list closeout, and turnover documentation
Leadership & Training
  • Coach field teams and subcontractors on installation best practices
  • Lead toolbox talks and quality-focused training sessions
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Communicate project progress and quality status with management and clients
Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain QA/QC logs, inspection reports, and corrective action documentation
  • Develop reports on recurring issues, root causes, and quality KPIs
  • Support post-construction issue investigations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in solar PV construction, including field supervision or QA/QC roles
  • Relevant technical certifications preferred
  • Proficient in QA/QC project management tools
Knowledge & Skills
  • In-depth understanding of PV system design, construction sequencing, and electrical safety
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for technical issue resolution
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis, CAPA, and lean construction principles
