Responsibilities

Summary: We are proud to announce the establishment of a state-of-the-art Li-ion battery factory in the Kansas City Metro. This green-field facility will serve as a hub for innovation in sustainable energy solutions. We seek dedicated individuals for full-time, on-site roles at our new factory in DeSoto, Kansas.

Job Summary: The Quality Laboratory Technician - Level 5 will collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Quality Teams to run tests and inspections, report results, identify defects, and ensure products meet customer specifications.

Essential Duties:

  • Operate laboratory instruments such as X-ray particle analyzers, CT scanners, GC-MS, and SEM.
  • Perform sample inspections using various analytical techniques to detect contaminants.
  • Prepare samples following SOPs and guidelines.
  • Communicate results clearly to team members, using technical and layman terms.
  • Interpret data and analyze KPIs.
  • Follow procedures for sample receipt, labeling, and storage.
  • Maintain detailed testing records.
  • Assist in instrument maintenance and calibration.
  • Follow safety regulations and PPE requirements.
  • Train other laboratory technicians as needed.
  • Troubleshoot routine issues and assist with problem-solving.
  • Lead containment actions and quality improvements, utilizing data visualization tools.
  • Support process audits and operate independently when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Report deviations and ensure adherence to policies and 6S standards.
  • Train others and work scheduled shifts, meeting physical and PPE requirements.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • Use PPE such as Tyvek suits, safety shoes, gloves, glasses, face masks, bump caps, and respirators as required. Respirator fit testing may be necessary.

Qualifications

Required Education: High school diploma or GED with 5+ years of relevant lab experience. Preferred: Associate’s degree or two years of college in sciences or engineering.

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in documenting test results accurately.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, basic statistical analysis, and measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and regulations.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Basic engineering understanding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 8 years of experience.
  • Six-sigma Green Belt or similar certification.
  • Experience with data processing software like Power BI or Foundry.
Physical Demands

Employees will spend time sitting (40%), walking (30%), standing (20%), and lifting (10%). Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs. is required; team lifts over 35 lbs are not required.
