Responsibilities

Summary: We are establishing a state-of-the-art Li-ion battery factory in the Kansas City Metro area, serving as a hub for innovation in sustainable energy solutions. Located in DeSoto, Kansas, this greenfield factory offers an exciting opportunity for those passionate about sustainable futures and the electric vehicle revolution.

Job Summary: We seek a dedicated Quality Lead - Level 5 with experience in quality inspection processes. Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, you will collaborate across teams to ensure quality objectives are met, improve product quality, and support our lithium-ion battery initiative. You will work with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to resolve issues and ensure product compliance with specifications.

Essential Duties
  • Interpret and analyze data related to Key Performance Indicators.
  • Lead containment actions and treatment of nonconforming materials using Python, Foundry, or other visualization tools; establish process alarms.
  • Drive quality improvement projects to enhance product quality, streamline processes, and reduce defects.
  • Support QA Inspectors and Operators in quality initiatives.
  • Train inspectors to improve proficiency.
  • Analyze data and make decisions independently, sometimes without SOPs.
  • Lead QA team in implementing quality control processes ensuring compliance with standards and customer requirements.
  • Conduct product and process audits as needed.
  • Communicate quality issues across organizational levels.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues promptly.
  • Document quality issues and deviations thoroughly.
  • Maintain adherence to policies, procedures, and cleanliness standards.
  • Train team members within the functional area.
  • Work all scheduled shifts and meet physical PPE requirements.
  • Lead the Quality Tech team in the absence of the Quality Supervisor.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
  • Use PPE such as full Tyvek suits, safety shoes, gloves, glasses, masks, and hazmat suits with respirators as needed; pre-employment fit testing required.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma, GED, or 2 years of relevant experience; preferred: Associate’s degree.

Experience: Minimum 6 years in manufacturing or similar industries; proficiency in programming scripts, data visualization, Foundry AI, Statistical Process Control, CAPA, and Root Cause Analysis. Preferred: 3-5 years in QA with strong corrective and containment actions experience.

Physical Demands
  • Activities include sitting (10%), walking (40%), standing (40%), lifting (10%).
  • Frequent lifting of up to 20 lbs; occasional lifting of heavier weights with team assistance.
