Job summary

Land O'Lakes, Inc. seeks a Quality Laboratory Technician in Tulare, CA to support QA inspections, verifications, and tests across the dairy production process.

You will maintain logs and update data in online systems, and assist with special projects while ensuring Food Safety compliance. The role requires 5+ years of lab experience (or an associate degree), English literacy, and the ability to obtain CIS status, in a union facility with rotating shifts and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of laboratory experience or an associate degree.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CIS status per NCIMS Appendix N requirements.
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Able to read, write, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Willingness to learn new skills, problem-solve and troubleshoot.

• Performs qualitative tests or assays and maintains test instruments to ensure compliance.
• Works with QA Managers, Lab Supervisors to foster quality programs and assists with onboarding/training.

Quality Laboratory Technician

Pay: $32.29 per hour plus Shift differential $0.50 per hour

Shift & Working Hours: 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM on a rotating schedule. Weekends overtime, holidays as business needs.

This is a Union Facility, and this position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Quality Laboratory Technician is responsible for inspecting and monitoring all facets of quality assurance, must be proficient in all QA inspections, verifications, and tests. In addition to demonstrating proficiency in the areas listed below, the QA Technician will be responsible for maintaining accurate logs and updating data in online systems. Responsibilities may include executing special tasks and projects under the direction of a Supervisor, as well as training new QA team members when necessary. The QA Technician must ensure compliance with all Food Safety and Regulatory Requirements. This role is part of our Dairy Food business who creates dairy products that stand for real, simple goodness. Key Responsibilities

• Complies with all safety processes and insists on safety practices of self and others

• Performs analyses, inspections, sampling, and testing of all stages of the manufacturing process, to ensure quality standards and compliance to customer and regulatory requirements, and tolerance specifications for the chemical or physical property
• Evaluates non-conforming results and initiates re-sampling, re-testing, and/or hold procedures
• Performs a variety of qualitative tests or qualitative assays on samples, and to aid in maintenance and certification of test instruments and apparatus to ensure compliance.
• Works with Quality Assurance Managers, Lab Supervisors and staff to foster and develop Quality programs to assist all employees; assists plant with onboarding and training of employees
• Able to multi-task and keep up with production demands in a fast-paced environment
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area

Required Experience and Skills

• Must be 18 years or older
• 5+ years of laboratory experience or associate degree.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Certified Industry Supervisor (CIS) status, in full compliance with NCIMS Appendix N requirements, as a condition of employment in the laboratory.
• Failure to obtain or maintain required qualifications, certifications, proficiency requirements or training shall result in disqualification from the Lab Tech position.

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
• Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements
• Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
• Working in temperature zones that include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include areas where dust and chemicals are present
• Required to work scheduled shift which may include weekends, some holidays, and periodic overtime
