Job summary

Draper Labs in Cambridge, MA seeks an Inspector A to inspect materials, components, and assemblies, interpreting engineering drawings, diagrams, and specifications to approve or reject items for in-process or final assemblies.

You will generate inspection reports, develop procedures, train staff, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. A minimum of an Associate's degree is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred, with 5+ years of inspection experience typically needed.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in engineering or science required; a Bachelor's is strongly preferred.
• CQI certification from ASQ is a plus.
• Two years of technical schooling may substitute for a degree in some cases.
• Miltiary technical schooling completion is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections on materials, components, assemblies and systems (visual, workmanship, dimensional, electrical).
• Generates/revises inspection procedures and flows.
• Performs source inspections at off-site facilities.
• Identifies bottlenecks and assists in resolution.
• Documents inspection results and generates reports; creates procedures for consistency.
• Trains and mentors lower grade personnel and new hires to lab policies.
