Position Summary
Building upon Level 1, working under higher level supervisors, the Quality Inspector – Level 2 inspects work from blueprints, digital models, and customer specifications to identify and segregate non-conforming products. Proficient knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASM 14.5, and experience with inspection measuring equipment are required. Candidates may demonstrate basic competency in operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)/Scanners and manipulating digital models in CATIA. Typical roles include receiving inspectors, final inspectors, or entry-level CMM inspectors. Must be a US citizen.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Interpret job router/manufacturing order
- Perform basic CMM operation
- Set and use bore gauges
- Sealant inspection
- Inspect fastener installation
- Perform first part inspections
- Create rejection tags
- Perform in-process and final inspections of parts and assemblies
- Verify part identification and configurations
- Prioritize inspection queues
- Identify and segregate non-conforming products
- Train on GD&T
- Use inspection tools (surface plates, micrometers, height gauges)
- Perform first article inspections
- Transport parts as needed
- Interpret certifications
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization (6S)
- Follow safety policies
- Adhere to company policies and BQMS
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Level 1 competencies
- Intermediate print reading and GD&T
- Intermediate shop math skills
- Familiarity with inspection tools
- Ability to use profilometer
- Certification to operate Rockwell/Eddy Current machines
- Familiarity with BAC5300
- Ability to meet cycle times
- Ability to learn and punctuality
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
- NDT/CMM experience preferred
Required Experience
- 2-3 years of relevant experience
Education
- GED or High School diploma preferred but not required
Physical Demands
- Use hands, reach, talk, sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift up to 20 lbs, and have specific vision abilities.
Work Environment
- Exposure to airborne particles, vibration, and moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations available.
