Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) in Tupelo, MS, is seeking a Quality Inspector to inspect parts, assemblies and tooling fixtures to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and quality requirements. Under limited supervision you will set up, test and adjust tools and fixtures, and maintain confidential inspection records.

You will operate measuring equipment including GD&T, CMMs and optical devices, interpret drawings, and communicate effectively with engineers and managers.

Qualifications

• Typically requires an associate's degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections or certification.
• Three or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical or metrology inspection and calibration.
• Read and understand engineering drawings and specifications and perform complex mathematical computations.
• Strong communication skills to interface with all levels of employees including management.
• Interpret complex information and respond to a variety of issues.
• GD&T knowledge at an intermediate to SME level.
• Proficiency with hand inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, plug and ring gages, profilometers and radius gages.
• Experience with optical comparators, Keyence vision or scanners, and Micro-Vu preferred.
• Experience with CMMs, portable ARMS or Laser Tracker equipment to achieve part acceptance is preferred.
• Data entry skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite are desirable.
• Knowledge of coordinate metrology software (PC-DMIS, Spatial Analyzer, Polyworks) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspects machined parts, components, assemblies and materials to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and customer requirements.
• Sets up and operates measuring and test equipment including GD&T.
• May operate CMMs or other metrology equipment for final or in-process inspections.
• May prepare, update and maintain computer databases.
• Observes testing and provides quality oversight to verify compliance with standards.
• Interacts with regulatory agencies and customers during audits and reviews.
• Monitors quality using statistical process or other control procedures.
• Coordinates procurement of standard materials, services and parts for inspections.
• Adheres to all laws and safety procedures; travel may be required.
• Other duties as assigned.
