Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) seeks a Metrology Engineer to develop and maintain quality assurance programs on mid-size projects. You will implement inspection methods, interpret data, and guide engineering and manufacturing to ensure QA standards are met.

Responsibilities include operating large metrology systems, performing diagnostics, and contributing to program documentation. Experience with GD&T and DoD quality frameworks is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s or master’s in engineering or related discipline with 5+ years (bachelor) or 3+ years (master).
• Experience applying GD&T and inspection methods; able to read engineering drawings and perform complex math.
• Proven ability to program and operate Laser Tracker equipment (LEICA or similar) and portable metrology gear.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS 9100/9102 and DoD quality requirements is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze design reliability and quality to suggest process changes.
• Recommend design, dimensional or manufacturing changes to improve products and reduce costs.
• Set up and operate measuring/test equipment including GD&T.
• Perform functional testing, inspections, and audits of quality systems.
• Prepare statistical reports and technical documents; communicate findings to stakeholders.
