Job summary

Bodycote in Wichita, KS is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform essential testing and verification of heat-treated parts under the direction of the Quality Manager to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.

This safety-sensitive role requires prior experience in heat treatment, the ability to read blueprints, operate testing equipment, and communicate clearly in English. Overtime and weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years in heat-treat or related field preferred.
• US citizenship or permanent resident due to ITAR.
• Must be able to obtain forklift certification.
• Must read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience with testing equipment and Microsoft Office.
• Overtime or weekend work may be required.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work in an industrial environment.
• Clear written and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform hardness and other tests and record results as required.
• Performs calibration of all testing equipment accurately and on schedule.
• Performs audits, weekly probes, surveys, etc. as needed or defined by procedure and/or schedule.
• May be required to complete conformance certificates and/or other related paperwork.
• Ensure orders meet all specification requirements.
• Report any deviation, problem or irregularity to supervisor or management immediately.
• Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
• Perform other tasks as designated by position
• This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage
• Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism

Position Summary

• Accurately perform hardness and other tests and record results as required.

Qualifications:

• This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
• Education – High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one to three years in heat treating industry or related field is preferred.
• Must have some working knowledge of all testing equipment and terminology
• Basic knowledge of commercial and aerospace materials and heat treating equipment is preferred.
• Some experience reading/interpreting blueprints/specifications is preferred.
• Be detail oriented and possess manual dexterity
• May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends
• Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification
• Basic knowledge and some hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required
• Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language

Physical & Mental Demands:

• Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment
• Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions
• Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
• Ability to hear in person and via phone
