Job summary

Bodycote plc in Cranston, RI seeks a Quality Inspector to perform essential heat-treatment functions under the guidance of the Quality Leadperson to meet customer specifications. Qualifications include a high school diploma, 1–3 years in heat treating, ability to read blueprints, and ITAR compliance. U.S.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years in heat treating or related field.
  • Must satisfy ITAR compliance (U.S. citizen or permanent resident).
  • Experience reading/interpreting blueprints/specifications.
  • Ability to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
  • Forklift certification may be required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and databases.
  • Effective written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately perform hardness and other tests and record results.
  • Calibrate all testing equipment on schedule.
  • Conduct audits and weekly probes as defined by procedure and/or schedule.
  • Complete conformance certificates and related paperwork.
  • Meet all specification requirements per BMS.
  • Report deviations to supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping.
  • Perform other tasks as designated by position.
  • Care for customer inventory and perform duties to prevent loss or damage.
  • Report for work on time and interact effectively with co-workers.

This position is eligible for a $1,500 sign-on retention bonus!

Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical; have the ability to work full-time, 40+ hours per week. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 6am-2pm.

Summary:

Position Summary:

Based in Cranston, RI the Quality Inspector will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Quality Leadperson to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Accurately perform hardness and other tests and records results as required.
  • Performs calibration of all testing equipment accurately and on schedule.
  • Performs audits, weekly probes, surveys, etc. as needed or defined by procedure and/or schedule.
  • May be required to complete conformance certificates and/or other related paperwork.
  • Meet all specification requirements per BMS.
  • Report any deviation, problem or irregularity to supervisor or management immediately.
  • Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
  • Perform other tasks as designated by position
  • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism

  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
  • Education – High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one to three years in heat treating industry or related field
  • Must have working knowledge of all testing equipment and terminology
  • Basic knowledge of commercial and aerospace materials and heat treating equipment is desired
  • Must have some experience reading/interpreting blueprints/specifications, be detail oriented and possess manual dexterity
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification
  • Knowledge and hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone
