Job summary

Bodycote in Wichita, KS seeks a Quality Inspector to perform essential tests and record results under the direction of the Quality Manager. The role ensures conformance to customer specifications and supports calibration and audits.

The candidate will read blueprints, operate testing equipment, and maintain safety and accuracy while collaborating with team members. ITAR compliance and overtime flexibility are required.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints/specifications.
  • Experience in heat treating environment preferred (1–3 years).
  • Must be able to obtain forklift operator certification.
  • Able to work overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Must communicate effectively in English (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

  • Accurately perform hardness and other tests and record results.
  • Calibrate testing equipment accurately and on schedule.
  • Conduct audits, weekly probes, surveys as defined by procedure/schedule.
  • Ensure orders meet specification requirements.
  • Report deviations to supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping.
  • Care for customer inventory in a safe manner.

Position Summary

Based in Wichita, KS the Quality Inspector will perform essential job functions associate with heat treatment under the direction of the Quality Manager to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
  • Accurately perform hardness and other tests and record results as required.
  • Performs calibration of all testing equipment accurately and on schedule.
  • Performs audits, weekly probes, surveys, etc. as needed or defined by procedure and/or schedule.
  • May be required to complete conformance certificates and/or other related paperwork.
  • Ensure orders meet all specification requirements.
  • Report any deviation, problem or irregularity to supervisor or management immediately.
  • Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
  • Perform other tasks as designated by position
  • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism
Qualifications:
  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
  • Education – High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one to three years in heat treating industry or related field is preferred.
  • Must have some working knowledge of all testing equipment and terminology
  • Basic knowledge of commercial and aerospace materials and heat treating equipment is preferred.
  • Some experience reading/interpreting blueprints/specifications is preferred.
  • Be detail oriented and possess manual dexterity
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification
  • Basic knowledge and some hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language
Physical & Mental Demands:
  • Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone
