Job summary

Girard's Foodservice Dressings in Manteno, IL is seeking a QC Inspector for an hourly position reporting to the QC Supervisor. The role conducts line clearance, routine analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished products using various testing devices to maintain product quality.

You will ensure documentation for quality compliance is preserved for traceability and audits, verify SOP adherence on the production line, and promptly report non-conformances to avoid spoilage.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate with a background in Science (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology) or equivalent work experience.
• Competence in math & calculations with computer skills.
• Good attention to details & ability to recognize non-conformance to SOP.
• Good organization skills & detailed in reporting.
• Good communication & interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well with other departments in the company especially in production environment.

Responsibilities

• Conducts line inspections prior to start-up, verifies that items on the Line Clearance checklist are complied.
• Performs swab and allergen tests as per procedures and communicates results to production.
• Conducts GMP compliance and in-line process inspections and documents results in SafetyChain.
• Conducts metal detector tests (Fe, non-Fe, SS) every 2 hrs for all running lines.
• Records results in SafetyChain; ensures tests are completed at start and end of each run.
• Compares analysis results to specifications and informs QC Supervisor if not compliant.
• Ensures labeling, packaging, code dating and other customer requirements are met.
• Performs analytical tests on raw materials or finished product (TA, pH, moisture, viscosity, net weight).
• Puts MRB-HOLD tag on non-conforming products and logs in MRB.
• Collects retention samples for future traceability or complaints.
• Maintains lab orderliness and cleanliness.
• Other duties as assigned.
