Job summary

Girard's Foodservice Dressings is seeking a QC Technician for our Manteno, IL plant, reporting to the Quality Supervisor. The role involves hands-on analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished products using a range of testing devices to ensure quality and food safety.

Responsibilities include GMP inspections, recording results in SafetyChain, calibrating equipment, monitoring weights, conducting sensory tests, and supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Degree or technical background in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc. or equivalent work experience.
• Competence in math & analytical calculations.
• Good organization skills & detailed reporting skills.
• Good communication & interpersonal skills.
• Prior experience in food manufacturing environment is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical tests on raw materials & finished products using standard methods of analysis per established procedures.
• Conduct various QC tests (Titratable Acidity, Total Salt, Viscosity, Moisture, pH, metal detector, etc.) and document results.
• Maintain records of test results in SafetyChain.
• Perform equipment calibrations (pH meter, weighing scale, thermometer, viscometer).
• Perform weight monitoring per SOP and alert production for non-compliance.
• Conduct product leak detection tests and prompt adjustments before packing.
• Conduct QCP & CCP tests and verify specs using SafetyChain QM systems.
• Perform in-coming raw material testing and document results.
• Verify batch & finished goods compliance with specs including labeling and packaging.
• Conduct sensory tests on finished products and report non-compliance to QC Supervisor.
• Collect retention samples and ensure proper storage and disposal per retention periods.
• Replace control samples for batch checks and keep organized for reference.
• Collect samples for micro testing as needed and store appropriately.
• Inspect shelf-life retention products for defect claims during customer complaints.
• Prepare flavors as required by production pick lists.
• Ensure only approved specs deviations are used in production.
• Perform swab and allergen tests and document results in SafetyChain.
• Report any non-compliant critical results to Supervisor/Manager.
• Put HOLD tags on non-conforming products and manage MRB records.
