Job summary

GFF at Manteno plant is hiring a QC Technician for an hourly role. You will perform hands-on analytical testing of raw materials, in-process and finished products to ensure quality and food safety.

Responsibilities include using various devices, recording results in SafetyChain, and supporting GMP compliance. The position requires a degree or technical background in Food Science, Chemistry, or Microbiology, plus strong math, reporting, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree or technical background in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc. or equivalent work experience.
• Competence in math and analytical calculations.
• Good organization skills and detailed reporting skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical tests on raw materials and finished products using standard methods per procedures.
• Conduct QC tests (Titratable Acidity, Total Salt, Viscosity, Moisture, pH, metal detector) per protocol and document results.
• Maintain orderly records of test results in SafetyChain and other databases.
• Perform equipment calibrations (pH meter, weighing scale, thermometer, viscometer).
• Perform weight monitoring per SOP and alert production on non-compliance.
• Conduct product leak detection tests and alert on non-compliance before packing.
• Conduct QCP and CCP tests (pH and metal detector) and confirm specs compliance.
• Perform in-coming raw material testing and document results.
• Verify batch and finished goods conformity with labeling, packaging, codes and customer requirements.
• Conduct sensory tests on finished products and report non-compliance.
• Collect retention samples and ensure proper storage and disposal per retention periods.
• Replace control samples as per SOP and keep them organized.
• Collect samples for microbiology testing following guidelines.
• Inspect shelf life samples to substantiate customer complaints investigations.
• Prepare flavors as required by production pick lists.
• Ensure only approved specs deviations are used in production.
• Perform swab and allergen tests and document results in SafetyChain.
• Report non-conforming critical results to supervisor and implement corrective actions.
