Cleveland-Cliffs in Butler, Pennsylvania, invites you to join as a Quality Engineering Intern. You will support the Metallurgical Department by participating in safety inspections, lab workflows, and test equipment calibrations, gaining exposure to steelmaking processes and lean initiatives.

The internship targets students pursuing a BS in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related fields, with sophomore standing by summer 2027, and eligibility to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a BS program in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related technical degree.
• Completion of at least sophomore year by summer 2027.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for the Metallurgical Department.
• Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
• Manage test equipment calibrations.
• Create new operating efficiencies to maintain production, testing, and shipping with a leaner workforce.
• Maintain Steelmaking spectrometer lab, calibration, and on-call support.
• Data-mining investigations with metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.
• Metallurgical grade maintenance and development.
• Manage 3rd party testing inspection.
• Maintain tracking of Steelmaking scrap, referral, and diversions.
• Metallurgical investigations.
