Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs invites motivated undergraduates to join our Quality Engineering internship in Coatesville, PA. You will engage in lab work, safety program duties, and data-driven improvements across metallurgical processes.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in spectrometer maintenance, testing calibration, and collaboration with engineering leaders, with potential for future full-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a BS program in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related technical degree.
• Completion of at least sophomore year by summer 2027; eligible to work in the United States full-time.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for the Metallurgical Department.
• Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
• Manage test equipment calibrations.
• Create new operating efficiencies to maintain production, testing, and shipping with a leaner workforce.
• Maintain Steelmaking spectrometer lab, calibration, and on-call support.
• Data-mining investigations on metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.
• Metallurgical grade maintenance and development.
• Manage 3rd party testing inspections.
• Maintain tracking of Steelmaking scrap, referral, and diversions.
• Metallurgical investigations.
