Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs in Mansfield, Ohio, seeks a Quality Engineering Intern to support the Metallurgical Department. You'll assist with safety inspections, lab workflow, equipment calibrations, and data-driven investigations while learning in a hands-on environment.

Enrollment in a BS program in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry or related field is required, with sophomore standing by summer 2027. The internship offers exposure to industrial steelmaking, potential for future full-time

Qualifications

• Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or other related technical degree.
• Sophomore year completed by summer 2027.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for the Metallurgical Department.
• Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
• Manage test equipment calibrations.
• Create operating efficiencies to maintain production, testing, and shipping of steel with lean workforce.
• Maintain Steelmaking spectrometer lab, calibration, and on-call support.
• Data-mining investigations on metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.
• Metallurgical investigations and 3rd party testing inspections.
