Job summary

Fort Wayne Metals is seeking a Quality Engineer for New Product Development to ensure the highest quality standards across design, development, and production. You will collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Quality teams to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

The role requires a BS in engineering or related field, CQE certification preferred, and 3+ years in quality roles with process improvement and auditing experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field required.
• ASQ CQE or other recognized certification preferred.
• Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
• 3 years of quality experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work within company policies and customer guidelines to manage quality control and assurance of production and testing; make recommendations for changes.
• Apply Customer and FWM quality requirements; update procedures, work instructions, and forms; review customer specifications.
• Design and refine methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection; conduct analysis and test equipment development; coordinate with Quality Manager on changes.
• Serve as a resource to supervisors, engineers, operations, and Quality Team for problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.
• Educate employees on FWM quality policy; create training materials and deliver training; answer questions on quality policy and issues.
• Lead and participate in internal, external, customer, and regulatory quality audits.
• Communicate quality metrics, problems, trends, losses, and improvement recommendations to management.
• Stay current on quality testing methodologies; attend seminars and meetings; verify corrective actions.
• Investigate customer returns including root cause analysis and corrective actions; conduct on-site visits as needed.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.
