Job summary

Fort Wayne Metals in Fort Wayne, IN, seeks a Senior Quality Engineer (Project Management) to lead QA/QC programs across Operations, Sales, Engineering and Quality while ensuring compliance with customer specs and regulatory requirements. You will drive process improvements, mentor staff, and coordinate audits.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in Engineering and CQE certification, with strong communication and leadership skills to influence across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field and equivalent demonstrated skills and abilities required.
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or other recognized professional certification required.

Responsibilities

• Apply customer and FWM quality requirements including updating procedures, work instructions, forms and interpreting customer specifications.
• Design and refine methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection; conduct analysis and develop test equipment; collaborate with Quality Manager on changes.
• Manage quality control and assurance aspects of production and product testing; recommend changes as appropriate.
• Serve as resource to supervisors, engineers, operations, and Quality Team for problem identification, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
• Educate employees on FWM quality policy; create materials and deliver training; address questions about policy and technical issues.
• Lead and direct Quality Technicians and Engineers within supervisory scope; mentor and train team members.
• Lead internal and external audits; act as advisor to management on quality metrics, trends, losses and improvement opportunities.
• Stay current on quality testing methodologies; attend seminars and meetings; verify corrective actions.
