Job summary

Jasper Engines & Transmissions invites qualified students to join its Quality Team for a summer internship in Iowa. As an Engineering/Quality Intern you will support process improvement and lean manufacturing efforts in a remanufacturing facility, working with engineers on root cause analysis and data-driven projects.

Ideal candidates are juniors or seniors pursuing Mechanical, Automotive, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering Technology programs, with MS Excel and Solid Modeling

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree related to mechanical or quality engineering.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Proficient in MS Excel; experience with data analysis is a plus.

Job Description: Internship Overview:

As an Intern with our Quality Team you will gain hands‑on experience working alongside our experienced engineers in the Manufacturing setting. Interns support quality improvement and process engineering initiatives within one of our remanufacturing facilities, ensuring adherence to standards, reducing scrap/rework, and enhancing process reliability.

This internship is ideal for college students entering their junior or senior year and pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering Technology / Engineering. We are looking for students with an interest in problem solving, the automotive industry, and lean manufacturing.

*This internship will take place during the summer of 2027, 8-12 weeks

Key Responsibilities:

• Initiate and complete problem-solving projects that align with Transmission, Gas Engine, and Diesel Engine Division quality goals
• Support the development and improvement of remanufacturing processes to ensure quality and efficiency
• Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation for internal and customer quality issues
• Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, process deviations, and opportunities for improvement
• Develop work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and error proofing devices for quality processes
• Prepare reports and present findings to engineering and operations leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

• This internship is for college students entering their junior or senior year in fall 2027, pursuing degrees in Mechanical, Automotive, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering Technology / Engineering
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Solid Modeling Software
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced production environment
• Knowledge or experience working on Gas/Diesel Engines and/or Transmissions is preferred
