Job summary

Jasper Engines & Transmissions is offering summer internship opportunities in its Finance and Accounting Department in Iowa. Interns will work on project-based tasks exposing students to financial reporting, budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, and auditing processes.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field, with a sophomore year completed and a GPA of 3.5+, strong Excel skills and GAAP understanding are preferred.

Qualifications

• GPA 3.5 or above preferred.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Basic understanding of data analysis tools is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day accounting tasks.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports and assist with reconciling accounts.
• Help maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Assist in performing audits and maintaining documentation.
• Conduct market and financial research to support business decisions.
• Work with accounting software, such as Dynamics 365 and Workday Adaptive Planning.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

Job description

JASPER is seeking a couple of assertive and energetic individuals for internship opportunities within our Finance and Accounting Department for the summer of 2027. The internship roles will be project based with the goal of exposing the student to different areas of accounting (financial, accounts receivable, accounts payable). Depending on schedule flexibility and # of applicants, the candidate may be able to work part-time junior/senior year thru completion of college. We are seeking students pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field, and have completed their sophomore year of college with intermediate level accounting courses.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with day-to-day accounting tasks
• Prepare and analyze financial reports and assist with reconciling accounts
• Help maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards
• Assist in performing audits and maintaining documentation
• Conduct market and financial research to support business decisions
