Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Quality Engineer in Wisconsin to lead end-to-end quality assurance across processes, materials, and products. You will drive improvements to achieve Zero Defects, support ISO 9001, and manage APQP/PPAP for new product introductions.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Engineering and at least 2 years in ISO/TS manufacturing quality, with strong root-cause/problem-solving skills and knowledge of Six Sigma and SPC.

Qualifications

  • English language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing).
  • Minimum 2 years of related Quality Engineering experience in an ISO/TS certified manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background of root cause problem-solving including knowledge of 8D, Six Sigma, Mistake Proofing, and SPC tools and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and ability to interpret technical drawings, specs, and standards.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and APQP techniques including PPAP.
  • Demonstrated strengths of resiliency and process focus implementing Quality standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead improvement of processes and products with goal of Zero Defects using pFMEA, Mistake Proofing, and robust Control Plans.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to reduce CoPQ and EPPM through structured root cause problem-solving (8D, Six Sigma).
  • Improve and sustain ISO 9001 Quality Management System, including internal audits and support audits.
  • Plan and oversee analysis, inspection, testing, and other process controls to meet specifications.
  • Lead APQP stage gate quality deliverables for new product/process development and PPAP projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards for product compliance.

How You Will Do It

This position plans and conducts activities concerned with the end-to-end quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties:

  • Lead improvement of processes and products with the goal of Zero Defects through enhanced Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (pFMEA), Mistake Proofing techniques, and robust Control Plans.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) and EPPM (External parts per million) through structured root cause problem-solving activities such as 8D and Six Sigma.
  • Improve and sustain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, including performance of internal system audits and/or layered process audits, as well as support external audits.
  • Plan and oversee the analysis, inspection, testing, and other process controls to assure the quality of the factory products or components to meet specification.
  • Lead assigned Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) stage gate quality deliverables for new product/process development and Engineering Change Notification (ECN) projects including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of necessary government and industry quality codes and standards to ensure product compliance.

  • Prior experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) techniques including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Demonstrated strengths of resiliency and process focus implementing Quality standards and best practices.
Preferred
  • Masters Degree (Engineering, Business, or Quality)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
SALARY RANGE

SALARY RANGE: $60,600 - $91,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
