Job summary

Thornley Corporate Solutions Ltd., Howell, MI, seeks a Quality Engineer (QE) / Senior Quality Technician for on-site automotive work. Lead APQP/PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and Control Plans to support new launches and quality readiness.

You will collaborate with suppliers and customers (GM, Ford, Stellantis), drive process improvements, Run-at-Rate readiness, and PPAP approvals while reporting on quality metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 5-6 years automotive quality engineering experience (Tier 1/2 supplier or OEM).
• Hands-on expertise with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and Control Plans.
• Strong knowledge of customer-specific requirements (GM, Ford, Stellantis).
• SAP and advanced MS Office proficiency; excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead APQP Core Tools implementation across project teams from concept through launch.
• Drive feasibility studies and risk assessments throughout the supply chain.
• Develop and execute Process FMEAs with cross-functional teams.
• Create comprehensive Control Plans covering the entire value chain.
• Support Run-at-Rate activities and ensure quality readiness for production launches.
• Conduct MSA and Process Capability Studies per Production Control Plan requirements.
• Manage PPAP submissions and customer approval processes.
• Capture and implement Lessons Learned for continuous improvement.
• Ensure Release Gate deliverables meet quality maturity standards.
• Proactively identify risks and implement Special Control Strategies.
• Bridge communication between plants, suppliers, and customers.
• Drive quality performance metrics and process improvements.

Quality Engineer (QE / Senior Quality Technician) | Automotive Tier 1 Supplier | Howell, MI | On-site

Salary: up to $80,000 per year. No bonus.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting a Quality Engineer for a growing automotive Tier 1 supplier at their Howell, Michigan facility. This is a small, fast-growing plant (around 30 staff, direct and indirect) with new business arriving and additional takeover business still to be awarded, so there is real scope to shape quality as the site scales.
