Job summary

MJ Recruiters, LLC is seeking a Quality Engineer for the automotive sector in the St. Joseph, MI area.

The role focuses on driving quality improvements, coordinating with production and engineering, and supporting new model launches in a transitioned, tech-driven facility. Candidates should have 4+ years in quality engineering within mass production or automotive suppliers, strong root-cause problem solving, and experience with control plans and PFMEA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; experience may substitute.
• 4+ years of quality engineering in mass production machining or automotive supplier.
• Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Formal problem solving methods such as 8D, 5WHY, etc.
• Document control experience: control plans, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA.
• Ability to read blueprints, GD&T.
• Working knowledge of calipers, micrometers, gauges and other quality tools.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the quality point of contact for key customers.
• Determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
• Assist manufacturing with quality issues and concerns.
• Review control plans.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for customers and management.
• Assist operations and engineering with problem solving.
• Monitor and update portals.
• Champion formal problem solving teams.
• Improve gauge and SPC processes.
• Support new model launch activities.
• Deliver related quality training.
• Monitor and minimize scrap.
• Utilize Minitab software.
• Other duties as delegated by the manager.

Profitable, stable manufacturer is seeking a Quality Engineer to report to the Quality Manager, work with another Quality Engineer and partner closely with production and engineering. Candidates will be assigned to specific automotive OEMs and will work to reduce quality issues and support operations and production launches. Responsibilities will include:

• Communicate with key customers and serve as the point of contact for quality issues
• Determine root cause of quality issues and implement corrective actions
• Assist the manufacturing floor with quality issues and concerns
• Review control plans
• Complete weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for customers and management
• Assist operations and engineering with problem solving
• Monitor and update portals
• Champion formal problem solving teams
• Improve the gauge and SPC process
• Support new model launch activities
• Deliver related quality training
• Monitor and minimize scrap
• Utilize Minitab software
• Additional responsibilities as delegated by the manager

REQUIREMENTS for the Quality Engineer:

• 1. Ideally a Bachelor's degree; experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
• 2. At least four years of quality engineering experience in a mass production machining environment OR with a tier I or tier II automotive supplier
• 3. Experience leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
• 4. Formal problem solving skills, such as 8D, 5WHY, etc.
• 5. Document control experience, such as control plans, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, etc.
• 6. Ability to read blueprints, ideally with GD&T experience
• 7. Working knowledge of calipers, micrometers, gauges and other quality tools
• 8. Microsoft Office

Skills preferred but NOT required:

• 1. ERP system experience
• 2. Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
• 3. Customer communication
• 4. E xperience with product launches
• 5. Strong continuous improvement background with proven examples of scrap reductions, efficiency improvements, etc.
• 6. SPC experience, including SPC software
