Job summary

Partners Personnel is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support a high-volume precision manufacturing operation in Rochester, NY, focusing on strengthening the Quality Management System as it migrates from ISO 9001 to IATF 16949. The role will drive customer quality, process improvement, quality systems, and new program launches, with emphasis on APQP, PPAP, SPC, and CMM-based inspection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
• Experience as a Quality Engineer in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Experience with high-volume manufacturing, preferably CNC-turned or precision-machined components.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and exposure to IATF 16949.
• Knowledge of AIAG Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary quality contact for customers and support customer quality requirements.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints, quality issues, and product rejects.
• Manage and support PPAP submissions and customer-specific requirements.
• Support new product and program launches, including quality planning and documentation.
• Participate in supplier quality activities, supplier performance monitoring, and supplier audits.
• Oversee receiving inspection activities and ensure incoming materials meet specifications.
• Manage calibration activities and ensure inspection and measurement equipment remains compliant.
• Monitor and report customer scorecards and key quality performance metrics.
• Conduct and support internal, customer, and supplier audits.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to verify product conformity.
• Utilize SPC and other statistical quality tools to monitor and improve processes.
• Operate and program/use CMM equipment for precision inspection and dimensional verification.
• Analyze quality data and identify opportunities for corrective and preventive action.
• Assist with the continued development and implementation of the IATF 16949 Quality Management System.
• Maintain quality documentation, procedures, work instructions, and records.
• Provide technical direction, support, and training to Quality Department inspection personnel.
• Work closely with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Purchasing, and other departments to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing operation.

This role will be a key resource for customer quality requirements, process improvement, quality systems, and new program launches. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in precision manufacturing, customer quality, and mechanical inspection, along with knowledge of automotive quality standards and AIAG Core Tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Experience as a Quality Engineer in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Experience with high-volume manufacturing, preferably CNC-turned or precision-machined components.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T.
• Proficiency with mechanical precision measurement equipment and inspection techniques.
• Experience with CMM inspection preferred.
• Working knowledge of SPC and statistical quality methods.
• Experience with customer complaints, corrective actions, PPAPs, and quality documentation.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Exposure to IATF 16949 is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with AIAG Core Tools, including:
• APQP
• PPAP
• FMEA
• MSA
• SPC
• Experience supporting internal and supplier audits preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
