Job summary

Top Gun Staffing, Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineer to drive product lifecycle quality from prototype through production and launch readiness. The role involves PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, and process documentation to support ongoing manufacturing operations.

You will work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality teams to ensure dimensional quality, metrology methods, and supplier quality issues are resolved, with a focus on continuous improvement and cost reductions.

Qualifications

  • : Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
  • : 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • : Experience supporting welding, fabrication, assembly, stamping, or other high-volume manufacturing processes.
  • : Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality management systems.
  • : Strong working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, GD&T; and statistical quality methods.

  • Review corrective actions and ensure recurrence prevention.
  • Serve as liaison between customers, quality, engineering, and suppliers.

Job description

The Quality Engineer will play a key role throughout the product lifecycle, including prototype development, product launches, production readiness, PPAP documentation, process validation, and ongoing manufacturing support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of customer product, quality, and engineering specifications.
  • Lead quality-related activities associated with new product and program launches.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality teams to support the development and introduction of new and existing products.
  • Coordinate quality-related activities and corrective actions with production personnel.
  • Train and mentor quality and production employees on quality standards, inspection requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, scrap reduction, process improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Support APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, process flow documentation, and other quality planning activities.
  • Develop and implement quality procedures and inspection processes during prototype, pre-production, and production stages.
  • Coordinate the development, timing, qualification, and implementation of inspection and measurement fixtures.
  • Participate in cross-functional problem-solving activities involving dimensional, process, supplier, and product quality concerns.
  • Review quality issues, corrective actions, and problem-solving documentation to ensure effective resolution and prevention of recurrence.
  • Evaluate dimensional concerns and develop appropriate countermeasures in collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other technical teams.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, suppliers, and outside service providers.
  • Prepare and coordinate PPAP submissions for new products, process changes, and engineering changes in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Control Plans, inspection documentation, quality procedures, and related production documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality when working with customer-sensitive drawings, specifications, product information, and technical data.
  • Support supplier quality activities, including investigation and resolution of supplier-related quality issues.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting welding, fabrication, assembly, stamping, or other high-volume manufacturing processes preferred.

  • Strong understanding of dimensional inspection, measurement systems, and metrology methods.
  • Advanced knowledge of CMM inspection and dimensional reporting/analysis.
  • Experience with scan data, dimensional analysis, and interpretation of inspection results.
  • Experience with inspection fixture development and coordination with tooling or equipment suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience working directly with suppliers and resolving supplier quality concerns.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple quality initiatives and meet critical project deadlines.
Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in high-volume manufacturing, fabricated or assembled products, metal components, dimensional quality, product launches, and complex manufacturing processes will be strongly considered.
