Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Sample, test, and inspect construction materials (soil, aggregate, HMA) to ensure supplier/owner specs are met.
• Prepare and communicate testing results to supervisors and plant personnel.
• Follow company quality systems (GMS) and playbooks to ensure compliance.
• Train Level I technicians on sampling and testing procedures.

D&B operates four asphalt plants and two active sand and gravel plants and is a natural extension to our recently established Southeast platform, further strengthening our vertically integrated footprint. **General Summary**This position is responsible for sampling, testing, and inspecting construction materials or elements in a laboratory or field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications. Level II technicians must sample and test two construction materials in either a lab and/or field setting.**Essential Job Accountabilities*** Ensure compliance with supplier and owner specifications by sampling and testing construction materials, including soil, aggregate, hot mix asphalt (HMA), to maintain quality standards* Prepare and communicate testing and inspection results to supervisors and plant personnel to ensure quality control standards are satisfied and necessary process changes are implemented* Follow the requirements for materials quality outlined in the company management system (GMS) and the Construction Materials Playbook to ensure compliance and maintain high standards* Train Level I technicians on sampling and testing of construction materials to prepare them for additional certification and enhance their skills* Participate in and promote company safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with safety regulations**Education*** High school diploma preferred* Regional or State Agency certification for material being sampled, tested, inspected required* MDOT certifications preferred**Work Experience*** 1+ years of related experience required**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*** Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations* Basic computer skills, basic proficiency Microsoft Excel* Good oral and written communication skills**Physical Demands**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
