Job summary

Ash Grove Cement Branford facility is seeking a Quality Control Technician to perform laboratory tests to ensure products meet specifications per ASTM and AASHTO standards. You will handle chemical and physical testing of raw materials and fuels, under supervision, supporting safety policies and a See Stop Do culture.

Responsibilities include sampling, monitoring process parameters, communicating test results to production, and assisting with equipment maintenance and inventory.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience performing relevant tests in a cement laboratory environment preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
• Knowledge of chemical testing, including wet chemical analysis, and physical testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
• Understands, evaluates, and monitors hazards in the laboratory or the plant.
• Performs regularly scheduled sampling and analyses as established by the laboratory.
• Monitors and changes process/quality parameters.
• Notifies the Site Manager of any out-of-specification samples or problems.
• Maintains a high level of communication between the production and quality departments.
• Assists the production department in emergencies, as needed.
• Maintains a clean work area and assists in other housekeeping responsibilities.
• Prepares samples as needed for chemical and physical testing.
• Operates, cross-checks, and performs minor repairs to laboratory equipment.
• Maintains laboratory inventory of chemical solutions.
• Maintains logs and quality analysis reports as specified.
• Additional duties as assigned by manager.
