Job summary

Cemex US is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to join our team in Tucson. You will ensure cement products meet strict quality standards, performing testing and inspections in collaboration with the Quality Control Supervisor.

You will conduct ASTM/AASHTO/ACI tests, monitor quality deviations, and assist with mix design and reports while maintaining rigorous safety and lab practices in lab and plant environments.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in applied science or at least 2 years of cement plant experience.
• ASTM certification or ability to obtain within the first year.
• 2 to 4 years of experience in a quality-related role in the cement or heavy manufacturing industry.
• Strong numerical and testing skills, computer proficiency (including Excel and lab software), attention to detail, understanding of ASTM standards, and ability to operate mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safety Compliance: Follow all Cemex, OSHA, and MSHA safety policies and wear proper PPE at all times.
• Product Testing: Perform ASTM, AASHTO, and ACI testing at cement and Ready Mix plants.
• Quality Monitoring: Verify product quality and notify management of deviations.
• Mix Design Oversight: Assist with product mix design and impact on kiln processes.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of tests and inspections, prepare reports on quality and equipment.
• Equipment & Lab Support: Lab housekeeping and basic equipment maintenance.
• Training & Reporting: Train new team members and complete audits, inspections, and reports.
• Additional Duties: Respond to callouts, participate in outages, and support other duties.
