Job summary

Wieland is seeking a QA Control Technician for our Verona, VA facility to inspect materials and finished parts against Mechanical Prints, perform in-process checks, and ensure compliance with ASME codes. This on-site role requires CI/QAI and Liquid Penetrant certifications within 90 days, plus strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Starting pay is $28.97/hour with a $1.50 third-shift differential; schedule is Mon-Thu, 7:30pm-6:00am, training 6:00am-4:30pm.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required. Vocational or associate degree pertaining to position preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to use standard and metric tape measures, calibers, weld gauges, etc.
  • CI/QAI (Certified Individual/Quality Authorized Inspector) certification within 90 days and Liquid Penetrant certification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word.
  • Close vision, distant vision, color vision, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and experience reading drawings/prints.
  • Previous experience inspecting components and writing technical reports preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and adhere to company Quality Control procedures, as related to overall inspection requirements.
  • Cooperate with production personnel and supervision to ensure maximum production with optimum quality, as established by management.
  • Inspect incoming, in-process, and outgoing material, parts, and assemblies to specifications and Mechanical Prints following standard shop practice and/or special instructions.
  • Perform specific calibrations, specific tests, and specific evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record the results.
  • Initiate NCR’s and communicate with vendors to resolve issues.
  • Disposes of rejected material.

QA Control Technician The QA Technician will be responsible for performing inspection upon receipt of materials and recommending disposition. Reviews finished products for conformance with Mechanical Prints. Performs and audits in-process checks to assure compliance with procedures and ASME Code regulations. Must be or become CI (Certified Individual) certified within 90 days in this position as well as Liquid Penetrant certified. Works in conjunction with other departments to meet goals of safety, quality, cost, and delivery. This role is located at 45 Sutton Road, Verona, VA and will be fully on-site.

Starting Pay: $28.97/hr, with compensation adjusted based on experience and qualifications.

3rd Shift Differential: $1.50

3rd Shift Schedule: Monday-Thursday | 7:30pm-6:00am

Training Schedule: Monday-Thursday | 6:00am-4:30pm

Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly

  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Able to perform work in various physical positions including standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching and may frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Able to perform work in a medium industrial setting with exposure to heat, cold, humidity, industrial odors, fumes, gases, chemicals, oil, grease, smoke, dust, noise, vibration, climbing ladders/stairs and working in cramped quarters.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
