Job summary

Wieland Group is seeking a Quality Control Technician for the 1st shift in Verona, VA. The role focuses on maintaining inspection accuracy, adhering to QC procedures, and collaborating with production to balance throughput and quality.

Responsibilities include inspecting materials and drawings, performing tests and calibrations, and issuing NCRs as needed. Requires reading prints, PI certifications, and proficiency with Excel/Word. Starting pay is $28.97/hour, with bi-weekly pay schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; further vocational/associate degree preferred.
• Minimum three years in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Ability to use standard and metric tape measures, calipers, weld gauges, etc.
• Must be or become CI/QAI certified within 90 days and Liquid Penetrant certified.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word.
• Strong reading of drawings/prints and analytical skills.

Quality Control Technician – 1st Shift

Responsibilities

QA Control Technician Responsibilities:

• Understand and adhere to company Quality Control procedures, as related to overall inspection requirements. Other duties may be assigned.
• Cooperate with production personnel and supervision to ensure maximum production with optimum quality, as established by management.
• Inspect incoming, in-process, and outgoing material, parts, and assemblies to specifications and Mechanical Prints following standard shop practice and/or special instructions.
• Perform specific calibrations, specific tests, and specific evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record the results.
• Initiate NCRs and communicate with vendors to resolve issues.
• Dispose of rejected material.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; vocational or associate degree pertaining to position preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Ability to use standard and metric tape measures, calibers, weld gauges, etc.
• Must be or become CI/QAI certified within 90 days in this position as well as Liquid Penetrant certified.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word.
• Close, distant, and color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and hand-eye coordination.
• Strong analytical skills and experience reading drawings/prints.
• Previous experience inspecting components and writing technical reports preferred.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to perform work in various physical positions including standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching, and may frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs.
• Work in medium industrial setting with exposure to heat, cold, humidity, industrial odors, fumes, gases, chemicals, oil, grease, smoke, dust, noise, vibration, climbing ladders/stairs and working in cramped quarters.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Compensation & Schedule

Starting Pay: $28.97 per hour, with compensation adjusted based on experience and qualifications.

1st Shift Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 am–4:30 pm.

Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly.
