Job summary

Wieland is seeking a Quality Control Technician for the 3rd shift at our Verona, VA facility. You will inspect materials on receipt, test in-process items, and verify conformance to Mechanical Prints and ASME Code requirements. CI/QAI certifications are required or must be achieved within 90 days, plus Liquid Penetrant certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; vocational/associate degree preferred.
• Minimum three years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Proficient with standard measurement tools and equipment.
• Must become CI/QAI certified within 90 days and Liquid Penetrant certified.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word.
• Able to read drawings/prints with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Understand and adhere to Quality Control procedures and inspection requirements.
• Cooperate with production to balance production with quality goals.
• Inspect incoming, in-process, and outgoing materials to specifications.
• Perform calibrations, tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection.
• Initiate NCRs and coordinate with vendors to resolve issues.
• Dispose of rejected material in accordance with procedures.

Wieland is hiring a QA Control Technician. The QA Technician will be responsible for performing inspection upon receipt of materials and recommending disposition. Reviews finished products for conformance to Mechanical Prints. Performs and audits in-process checks to assure compliance with procedures and ASME Code regulations. Must be or become CI (Certified Individual) certified within 90 days in this position as well as Liquid Penetrant certified. Works in conjunction with other departments to meet goals of safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

Location: 45 Sutton Road, Verona, VA. This role is fully on‑site.

Starting Pay: $28.97/hr, with compensation adjusted based on experience and qualifications.

3rd Shift Differential: $1.50

3rd Shift Schedule: Monday-Thursday | 7:30pm-6:00am

Training Schedule: Monday-Thursday | 6:00am-4:30pm

Pay Schedule: Bi‑weekly

Responsibilities

• Understand and adhere to company Quality Control procedures, as related to overall inspection requirements. Other duties may be assigned.
• Cooperate with production personnel and supervision to ensure maximum production with optimum quality, as established by management.
• Inspects incoming, in‑process, and outgoing material, parts, and assemblies to specifications and Mechanical Prints following standard shop practice and/or special instructions.
• Performs specific calibrations, specific tests, and specific evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and records the results.
• Initiates NCRs and communicates with vendors to resolve issues.
• Disposes of rejected material.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Vocational or associate degree pertaining to position preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in using standard and metric tape measures, calipers, weld gauges, etc.
• Must be or become CI/QAI (Certified Individual/Quality Authorized Inspector) certified within 90 days in this position as well as Liquid Penetrant certified.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word.
• Good vision and hand‑eye coordination.
• Strong analytical skills and experience reading drawings/prints.
• Previous experience inspecting components and writing technical reports preferred.
• Detail oriented.
• Can perform work in various physical positions including standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching and may frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
• Can work in a medium industrial setting with exposure to heat, cold, humidity, industrial odors, fumes, gases, chemicals, oil, grease, smoke, dust, noise, vibration, climbing ladders/stairs and working in cramped quarters.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
